Operation of Life Support Systems throughout the zoo, equipment maintenance and repair, and basic water quality testing.

Functions & Responsibilities

Other Duties & Responsibilities

Understand water chemistry reports and their relationship to Life Support, work closely with Animal Care staff and Construction staff, perform inspections, preventative maintenance tasks, cleaning and repair of all Life Support equipment.

Skills & Experience

Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge of pumps (centrifugal and peristaltic), filters (sand, bead, drum), UV sterilizers, ozone generators, and automated control systems. Water quality in aquariums. PVC plumbing. Knowledge and ability to use power tools.

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences preferred.

Physical Requirements

Able to move/lift 75 pounds, climb ladders, work in tight areas, ride a bicycle.

Working Conditions

Both indoor and outdoor in typical Southern California weather.

Salary & Benefits
Salary: $28.19/hour
