SEA LIFE Minnesota at Mall of America is on the lookout for a Lead Maintenance Technician to ensure the day-to-day operation is running smoothly, safely, and efficiently.

The Lead Maintenance Technician will support the Facilities Manager and General Manager, lead the maintenance team, and lead and conduct the required daily, weekly, monthly, and annual maintenance inspections and reactive maintenance.

Functions & Responsibilities

Essential Functions

Lead and undertake the maintenance and repair of aquarium tanks and life support systems.

Lead and conduct buildings and infrastructure maintenance on a routine and reactive basis, ensuring adherence to all mandatory and best practice schedules.

Lead and drive the annual maintenance plan.

Support the Facilities Manager on all aspects of the facilities department.

Maintain written safe working practices for all maintenance and facilities activity and complete documentation relating to mandatory safety checks, inspections, repairs and maintenance work, equipment, facilities, and infrastructure.

Ensure that mandatory periodic safety checks are undertaken for fire, health & safety, and emergency lighting systems and that any hazards or defects are either rectified immediately or escalated to the Facilities or GeneralManager as soon as they become apparent.

Ensure all equipment and tools are kept in good condition and stored in the safe and correct manner.

Be proactive with the general cleanliness and tidiness of all behind the scenes areas in addition to public areas ensuring that attraction and maintenance areas are kept orderly, and maintenance programs are followed.

Ensure security and safety of all attractions through daily inspections & documentation responding to emergency maintenance calls to expedite repairs, always keeping safety and comfort of all guests and employees in mind.

Ensure full compliance of policies and procedures set forth within the MERLIN ENTERTAINMENTS GROUP Health,Safety & Security POLICY (HS001) AND MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (HS001/A).

Undertake written risk assessments for all maintenance and facilities activities.

Attend Health & Safety meetings as required.

Other duties as assigned.

Skills & Experience

Knowledge & Skills

Self-motivated with previous experience maintaining a wide range of equipment.

Experience managing aquarium life support systems a plus!

2+ years of experience with at least 1+ years in a supervisory role.

Ability to work as a team player as well as individually.

Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and multitask as necessary.

Must be flexible and able to work a variety of shifts, including days, nights, weekends, holidays and special events.
